Step 1: Let’s Get Started


Start by selecting fresh and high-quality cardamom pods. Look for pods that are green in color and feel plump and aromatic.


Step 2: Follow along now


Take a cardamom pod and gently press it between your fingers to loosen the outer shell. This will make it easier to remove the seeds.


Once the pod is slightly opened, carefully remove the small black seeds inside. Repeat this process with all the cardamom pods you wish to grind.


Now, you have two options for grinding the cardamom seeds: using a mortar and pestle or a spice grinder.


a) Mortar and Pestle: Place the cardamom seeds in a mortar. Use the pestle to gently crush and grind the seeds in a circular motion. Apply a little pressure while grinding to break them into a fine powder. Continue grinding until you achieve the desired consistency.


b) Spice Grinder: If you prefer a faster and more efficient method, you can use a spice grinder. Add the cardamom seeds to the grinder and pulse it a few times until you obtain a fine powder. Avoid overgrinding, as it can release oils and make the powder clumpy.


Once you have ground the cardamom seeds into a powder, transfer it to a clean, airtight container or spice jar. Label it with the date and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
